How calculations work: Date Milestones uses standard calendar date logic in the visitor’s browser. Most calculators compare two selected calendar dates and display the result in days, weeks, months or years.
Calendar days
Countdown calculators count calendar days. They do not automatically remove weekends, school breaks, local public holidays or business closures. This keeps the tools useful for general planning, but not for legal, visa, tax, payroll or business-day deadlines.
Age, anniversaries and month lengths
Age and anniversary tools account for calendar months and leap years through browser date handling. Because months have different lengths, a result such as “2 months and 3 days” depends on the exact start and end dates.
Recurring dates such as birthdays
Birthday and half-birthday tools use the month and day from the original date, then find the next matching milestone from the selected start date. Leap-day birthdays and end-of-month dates may be adjusted to the closest valid calendar date by the browser.
Time zones
The calculators use the date selected in the visitor’s browser. Around midnight, or when comparing dates across time zones, results can differ from another device or location. For important deadlines, verify the date with the relevant school, office, travel provider or organization.
